The Brunswick Passive House demonstrates G-LUX Builders’ expertise in creating homes that prioritise comfort, health, and energy efficiency without compromising on style.

Situated on a 698m² block, this residence spans three levels, seamlessly connected by a lift. With a 185m² basement and an internal floor area of 270m², the home balances practicality with elegance.

The clients, both doctors, were drawn to the health benefits of Passive House. They came to G-LUX with completed architectural plans but sought assistance in adapting the design to meet Passive House standards. To achieve this, Hip v Hype were engaged as the Passive House consultant, ensuring the home met rigorous energy efficiency and indoor air quality benchmarks.

The external envelope of the house features dual stud walls to maximise insulation, complementing triple-glazed windows with motorised external blinds from Logikhaus. The specialty brick façade gives the house a distinctive appearance, while the hemlock castellation cladding in the entryway adds warmth and sophistication. Internally, the French wash finish enhances the home’s unique aesthetic.

The ground floor serves as the main living hub, featuring open-plan living areas and office spaces. Bedrooms and bathrooms are situated on the upper level, providing privacy and comfort. The inclusion of a basement preserved space in the backyard for vegetable gardens, a pool, and outdoor living spaces, fulfilling the clients’ desire for a sustainable and versatile outdoor area.

This project is particularly significant as it is the first Passive House by G-LUX to include a lift within the internal envelope. The home’s construction utilised a traditional stick build frame with a truss roof system, combining innovative Passive House techniques with proven building methods. The Brunswick Passive House is a true reflection of personalised, sustainable living at its finest.
