Set on 950 square metres in pristine Warrandyte this project embodies its surroundings taking on many timber elements and features. This project is built to not only perform but be beautifully designed and enjoyed by it’s family.

The panel house utilised helix microbar to reduce the reinforcing steel required in concrete as well as a dincel retaining wall for the sloped site which uses less steel than typical blockwork. The structure comprised of structurally insulated panel systems (SIPs), glulam timbers (GLAM) and cross laminated timber staircase (CLT Airstair) which reduced build time and waste.

This project runs purely off stored water, the house is built above a 41,000L rainwater tank system with filtration.

The house is one of few certified Passivhaus Premiums within Australia, some of the design elements include maximising northern exposure for solar gains in winter with appropriate sized eaves to block summer sun. Majority of windows are triple glazed to assist in keeping the house a consistent temperature as well as block nearby road noise.
